REVERSE OFFERING
Families living on public assistance who receive food stamps are allowed
to use the stamps only on food items. Most often these families must do without
personal hygiene products.
A great idea called "The Reverse Offering" has been very successful in area
churches. The way it works is simple. Instead of putting something in the
offering plate, members of the congregation take a slip out of the plate from
the many that are in there. Each slip of paper has descriptions of specific
non-food items that the food pantries need.
During the next week each person purchases the items that are listed on their
slip, and brings them to the church the following Sunday to complete "The
Reverse Offering" drive.
EXAMPLE: THE SLIPS FOUND IN THE OFFERING PLATE CAN SAY
"TEN ROLLS OF TOILET PAPER" OR "TWO BOTTLES OF DISH DETERGENT" OR ANY OTHER
NON-FOOD ITEMS THAT OUR FOOD PANTRIES CAN USE.

instructions as to the best place to deliver your collected items.
